Zimperium Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) Achieves IRAP PROTECTED Status

Zimperium has achieved the Australian Government security status of  PROTECTED after successfully completing an assessment performed by the Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) for its sovereign-hosted Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) solution. Assessed to the standards set by the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), this assessment demonstrates Zimperium’s commitment to providing industry-leading MTD capabilities that meet the requirements for both government departments operating at PROTECTED and other organisations operating within highly regulated industries.

Addressing Cybersecurity Challenges in Australia

The Australian Government has been actively addressing the escalating threat of cyber attacks by implementing comprehensive cybersecurity measures. To safeguard government information and communication technologies (ICT) systems, they have developed the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM). This comprehensive framework outlines cybersecurity protocols that organisations can adopt, leveraging their risk management frameworks to strengthen their systems and data against cyber threats. It’s important for organisations conducting business in Australia to adopt and implement this cybersecurity framework to improve their cybersecurity posture.

Understanding IRAP Assessment and ‘Protected’ Status

IRAP accreditation is critical for all Australian government agencies that rely on cloud services, at the federal, state, and local levels. Achieving IRAP certification is mandatory for public sector organisations seeking to work with the Australian government, as it complies with ISM stringent security standards—essential prerequisites for pursuing government contracts. Accredited assessors conduct IRAP assessments to evaluate an organization’s cybersecurity measures and ensure compliance with government standards.

‘Protected’ status is the highest level of security certification granted by the Australian Government. Achieving this status demonstrates that the solution has robust security measures in place and is suitable for handling classified government information.

Zimperium MTD: Enhancing Mobile Security at the Highest Level

Zimperium’s sovereign-hosted MTD solution allows organizations to acquire critical capabilities as a service without the need to build highly secure systems, reducing the investment required and accelerating ROI. These capabilities include:

  • Identify and minimize privacy and security risks from installed mobile applications (including malware, risky and leaky apps) with app vetting
  • Device-wide protection from phishing attacks from any source (including but not limited to SMS, messaging apps, QR codes, malicious attachments, etc.)
  • Category-based web content filtering for mobile devices
  • Protection from advanced cellular and network attacks (SIM jacking, including man-in-the-middle, malicious cell towers, etc.)
  • On-device dynamic detection against known and zero-day threats (does not require updates to the app or a network connection)
  • Enterprise-grade forensics on attacks and events.

Overall, this investment in the Australian government, critical national infrastructure, and defense industry enable Zimperium to provide these capabilities as a comprehensive mobile threat defense solution.
