From launching partnerships with some of the finest companies in the world to exposing critical security flaws that have forever changed the smartphone industry, I’ve had a lot to celebrate since joining Zimperium nearly two years ago. Today is no exception as we close $25 million in Series C funding.
A year ago, we would have been just another company announcing financing. But as the rumblings of a tech slowdown spread throughout the Valley and the funding environment tightens, especially for later-stage companies in crowded markets like cybersecurity, I couldn’t be prouder of the team at Zimperium.
Our backers include some of the brightest minds in tech and finance. Private equity firm Warburg Pincus led the round with participation from our existing investors Sierra Ventures, Telstra Ventures and Lazarus Israel Opportunities Fund LLLP. We’re also excited to welcome Warburg Pincus managing directors Cary Davis and Ashutosh Somani to Zimperium’s board of directors.
As today’s workforce becomes increasingly mobile and the number of mobile security flaws continues to rise, this new funding provides the fuel we need to better secure mobile devices from advanced threats. Warburg Pincus has been evaluating the mobile threat management industry closely and sees significant potential in this large and growing market. They sought out Zimperium for our unique approach, machine learning technology and scalability as a platform which is why they’re investing in us. They are excited to see we’ve brought on partners like SIRIN Labs, Deutsche Telekom and SmarTone and look forward to many others that are in the pipeline.
Finally, the financing will support our world-class zLabs research team as they continue to uncover previously unknown threats. Their work has not only sparked fundamental changes in the mobile OS security ecosystem but it has proven that signature-based solutions are not able to protect your business. An AI-based approach is needed, and our team has spent years building and perfecting our machine learning detection engine.
Mobile threat protection is an entirely new paradigm. While we’re proud of the progress that we’ve made, our work is far from done. Our aim is to stay one step ahead, and this infusion of capital will help us do just that.
