From Mobile Threat Detection to Autonomous Investigation: Connecting Zimperium with Sekoia

Mobile devices have become essential to how organizations work. Employees use smartphones and tablets to access business applications, authenticate to corporate services, exchange sensitive information, and stay connected from almost anywhere.

They have also become a key target for attackers.

As cybercriminals adopt a mobile-first attack strategy, organizations face threats including mobile phishing (mishing), including SMS/Text (smishing), malicious applications, network attacks, device compromise, and zero-day threats. Yet mobile security events are still frequently handled separately from the rest of the security environment. This creates blind spots for SOC teams and makes it harder to understand whether a mobile alert is an isolated event or part of a broader attack.

The integration between Zimperium Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) and the Sekoia AI SOC Platform helps close that gap. It brings mobile threat telemetry into a unified security operations environment, where it can be combined with detection data, threat intelligence, and the context required for autonomous investigation.

Mobile security needs more than device protection

Zimperium Mobile Threat Defense is designed to protect corporate-owned and BYOD devices across Android, iOS, and ChromeOS. Its on-device, AI-empowered threat detection works in real time across four primary threat vectors: device, network, application, and phishing, including when the device is offline. This approach is important because mobile devices do not always operate within the traditional enterprise network perimeter. An employee may connect from a public Wi-Fi network, receive a malicious text message, install a compromised application, or access a corporate service from a personally owned device.

Traditional network-centric controls may not see the complete picture in these situations. On-device protection provides a specialized layer of defense, detecting suspicious activity close to where it occurs.

However, detecting a threat on a mobile device is only the first step. Security teams also need to understand the event, assess its importance, identify related activity, and determine what should happen next.

That is where Sekoia adds another layer of value.

Bringing Zimperium telemetry into the SOC

The Zimperium integration for Sekoia is designed to collect Zimperium Mobile Threat Defense threat telemetry and make it available within the Sekoia platform. The integration is based on telemetry from Zimperium and supports threat-focused collection, detection, investigation, and threat hunting workflows in Sekoia.

Instead of forcing analysts to switch between separate consoles, mobile security events can be investigated alongside the other evidence available in the SOC.

This creates a more complete operational view:

  • Zimperium contributes mobile threat telemetry across device, network, application, and phishing threats.
  • Sekoia brings together events, detections, cases, additional threat intelligence, and investigation logic.
  • Analysts can review mobile activity as part of a broader incident rather than as an isolated notification.

The integration is configured through a Sekoia integration to Zimperium APIs using the credentials generated in the Zimperium console. Once configured, organizations can collect Zimperium threat events in Sekoia and use the platform’s detection and investigation capabilities to analyze them.

The result is not simply another source of alerts. It is a way to connect mobile security evidence to the rest of the security operation.

From alert collection to autonomous investigation

Most SOC teams already have more alerts than analysts can investigate manually. The challenge is not only identifying suspicious activity. It is gathering enough context to decide whether an alert represents a genuine threat, understanding its impact, and prioritizing the right response.

Sekoia’s new AI SOC capability, Sekoia Elevate, is built to address this investigation problem.

Elevate AI agents autonomously investigate alerts, correlate evidence, enrich findings with threat intelligence, and produce audit-ready reports with transparency into their reasoning. Analysts can review the questions asked, the searches performed, and the evidence used to reach a conclusion.

This distinction matters. A conventional integration may centralize alerts. An AI SOC integration provides the context and investigation logic needed to determine what those alerts mean.

When Zimperium telemetry enters Sekoia, Elevate can help security teams move through the investigation process more efficiently:

  1. Understand the alert. The agent reviews the mobile threat event and the available device, application, network, and threat context.
  2. Identify related activities. It looks for connections between the mobile event and other relevant signals in the environment.
  3. Apply investigation logic. Sekoia investigations are supported by detection content, threat intelligence, and runbooks that guide the analysis.
  4. Produce a structured finding. The outcome includes evidence and reasoning that analysts can review and challenge.
  5. Support the next decision. Analysts receive a clearer basis for prioritization, escalation, and response.

This is the difference between adding data to a platform and making that data operationally useful.

Three ways the integration helps security teams

1. Investigating mobile phishing in context

A suspicious link received on a mobile device may be dismissed as a low-priority event. But it could also be the first stage of a credential theft campaign targeting employees.

Zimperium can detect mobile phishing activity. Sekoia can then provide the broader investigation context, helping analysts determine whether similar activity has affected other devices, users, applications, or environments.

Elevate can support this process by collecting evidence and presenting the results in a structured investigation. Analysts spend less time manually connecting isolated events and more time deciding how to respond.

2. Prioritizing compromised or risky devices

Rooted or jailbroken devices, outdated operating systems, malicious applications, and suspicious network activity can all increase risk.

Zimperium provides specialized mobile device and application security signals. When those signals are available in Sekoia, security teams can assess them alongside other detections and cases, helping distinguish routine risk from activity that may be connected to an active attack.

This is particularly useful in BYOD environments, where the organization may not manage the entire device but still needs to protect access to corporate resources.

3. Connecting mobile events to broader incidents

Attackers do not necessarily stay within one environment. A compromise that begins with a mobile device may involve user credentials, cloud services, business applications, or other endpoints.

A SOC needs to investigate across these boundaries. Sekoia’s open approach brings third-party security signals into a shared operational view, while its AI SOC agents use the available context to support consistent investigation at scale.

This helps organizations move from a device-centric question, such as “What happened on this phone?”, to a broader security question: “What does this activity mean for the organization?”

The EvilTokens scenario

Consider a user whose mobile device generates a Zimperium phishing alert associated with an EvilTokens lure. As described in Sekoia’s New widespread EvilTokens kit: device code phishing as-a-service, Part 1, this type of campaign can trick users into entering a device code on the legitimate Microsoft login page, allowing attackers to obtain tokens and maintain access while bypassing MFA. Elevate can correlate the Zimperium alert with the user’s Entra ID sign-in activity, Microsoft 365 actions, DNS resolutions and proxy requests to related infrastructure, and matching indicators in Sekoia Intelligence. The SOC can then determine whether the alert was an isolated blocked attempt, whether the user’s account was compromised and used for activities such as mailbox reconnaissance or business email compromise, or whether the event is part of a broader campaign targeting multiple employees.

Better investigations without losing human control

Autonomous investigation does not mean removing analysts from the process.

Sekoia Elevate is designed to handle repetitive investigation work while keeping security teams in control. Findings are explainable and reviewable, and analysts remain responsible for challenging conclusions, making high-impact decisions, and determining when a response action should be taken.

That model is especially important for mobile security, where a single alert may involve personal devices, privacy considerations, user access, and business-critical applications.

The combined approach provides:

  • More context, by connecting mobile telemetry with the wider security environment.
  • Faster investigation, by automating evidence collection and repetitive analysis.
  • Better prioritization, by helping teams identify the events that require attention.
  • Greater consistency, by applying structured investigation logic across alerts.
  • Human oversight, by keeping findings transparent and decisions reviewable.
  • An open architecture, allowing organizations to build on their existing security investments.

The goal is not to replace specialized mobile protection. It is to make that protection more valuable by connecting it to the systems and workflows used by the SOC every day.

Securing the mobile attack surface with an autonomous SOC

Mobile devices are now part of the enterprise attack surface, and mobile security cannot remain isolated from security operations as a whole.

Zimperium brings specialized, on-device protection for mobile devices across device, network, application, and phishing threats. Sekoia brings threat intelligence, detection, response, and autonomous investigation into one operational platform.

Together, the integration helps security teams turn mobile threat telemetry into actionable security decisions. Zimperium detects mobile threats and risks on the device. Sekoia helps investigate why it matters, what else may be connected, and what the security team should consider doing next.

That is the promise of an integrated AI SOC: not more alerts, but better investigations.
